Genealogy and Family History research is a main part of our focus. The Eastern Shore of Virginia Heritage Center provides access to a variety of federal and special censuses, court, and vital records, collected family histories and genealogies, and both print and digitized sources that allow patrons to trace and document their ancestral lineage and history. The unique location and history of the Eastern Shore of Virginia as well as extensive and continuous court records offer a wealth of genealogical source material, including African American genealogy, and our collection is continually expanding.
Some of our most popular and useful resources are:
- Ancestry Library Edition
- FamilySearch
- Frances Bibbins Latimer Collection
- Online Digital Archives
- Finding Aides and Guides
